What is a Veldskool?
‘Veldskool’ is our collective name for camps & adventures aimed at pupils of primary and secondary schools, as well as tertiary students. Our Veldskool Camps include groups of 20-30 students where our instructors are extremely adept at teaching you about the African bush and field, out-of-the-box thinking, survival skills, fauna & flora, leadership skills, maintaining oneself in nature, equipping life skills and lateral thought pattern development of the world beyond the safety of a person’s home or the city. The ‘Jeugdige Stadsjapie’ teenager is likely to learn and gain the most from our short Adventure Camps. Those who have completed the Footprints Veldskool’s Adventure Camps can’t wait to share their experience with others. This is where the spirit of enrichment is spread to others! The Footprints Veldskool is the footprints that the participant leaves behind during and after visiting nature.

Conserving nature in the following ways:
Conserving Nature :
- Identifying plants, shrubs, and trees.
- Of importance: controlled fires; disadvantage of illicit fires.
- Map Reading and Compass Work | Marching | Identifying nocturnal animals and excursions.
- TV: Fire making and logging.
- Baguette | Lantern stalking | Bush TV | Survival Dishes | Basic first aid
- Above average outdoor living in accommodation such as tents and natural shelters.
- Ration pack experience.
- Strict security is maintained at all times.
- Practical compassion during activities.

Footprints Veldskool Adventure Camp Objectives:
- Keeping a spiritual attitude with a Christian orientation – no discrimination against other religious beliefs.
- Target groups: Gr. 7-12 learners, teachers, students and adult groups.
- Arrive: Fridays 16h00pm
- Complete: Sundays 11h55am
The ‘Jeugdige Stadsjapie’ will reluctantly return from a Footprints Veldskool:
- Physical experience and knowledge of nature and wildlife.
- Ownership and lateral thinking development.
- Geography and History of historical landmarks.
- Selected threats and resilience aspects.
- Leadership development and sense of responsibility.
Footprints Veldskool camps are not penalty-oriented – fitness is moderate, and teaching is instructive, with a dynamic design where the endurance and mental strength of participants are consistently tested and encouraged.
- Activities are modelled on aspects of field survival, game hunting and the military environment.
- Tracking and identification of wildlife and predator species, as well as their tracks.
- Physics, wildlife and botany.
